Elder Jesse Killpack. September 22, 2014

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was about enduring to the end, and seeing the blessings that
come from it. We contacted tons of people but none  chose  to
keep their appointments. But that's how the work goes. We found some
people that are ready to accept the truth. Last night we talked to
Mario, a man I found a while back on exchanges. We were on our way to
the church at the end of the night when we saw him and began to talk
to him. We went over our last lesson and got back up to Joseph Smith
and the Book of Mormon. As we talked about it Elder Turner mentioned
that we were going to watch a video but we went ahead with a couple
questions he had. We offered him the book and he said no, saying that
he wasn't worthy or ready to take it. We took the time to explain
that it was the only way he was going to become close to God again.
It was one of the most personal times for my testimony.
To explain to him that sometimes we don't even feel worthy
to pray to God and talk to such a magnificent being. Yet it is the
only way to become worthy in His eyes. The atonement is infinite and
can cover anything except denying the Holy Ghost. Don't do that! haha.
As we kept talking he reminded us about the video we had
forgotten. We shared it and it was crazy strong. Elder Holland
explains the introduction to the Book of Mormon very well. The man
began to feel a change of heart and looked very contemplative and
accepted it and thanked us a lot. He was almost to the point of crying.
Almost. Haha I am excited to hear about the temple and I can't wait to
be a part of all that as well. This week I got a hold of old Ensign with
articles about the Book of Enoch. Nothing has made me want to know
more languages like that. It made me feel like I should
look into using language skills to work in the church somewhere. I would love
working with old documents or something. It would give me an easy way
to always be building up Zion and bring about more knowledge to
myself and the world at large. I'll still need to do more thinking and
praying. If you want to delve into some crazy stuff, read those
articles by Hugh Nibley, my new hero. They are called A Strange Thing
in the Land: The Return of the Book of Enoch. I will never look at Genesis
or the Book of Moses the same way again.  I love you a lot. I am going to
come back smart just you watch and ever so humble.

Love

P.s. Still don't know how I forgot that story. Classic.
